Students were nominated and received awards for the Silver Spur awards that took place in the gym on April 3rd at 6 p.m.

The Silver Spur Awards are hosted and set up by Renaissance. This year Renaissance added two new award categories; Cowboy Spirit and Perfect Attendance. The ceremony began with Mr. Miller speaking with the parents of the nominees and congratulating them for successfully raising our future leaders.

The awards given were for visual and performing arts. These were followed by awards for physical education, English, world languages, mathematics, psychology, liberal science, work experience, journalism, AVID, history, health, sports medicine, science, cowboy spirit, perfect attendance and, an award for special education students called “All Subjects.”

“I’m very excited because one of my teachers recognized me,” said Jacob Lovan about Mr. Kochert nominating him for his award.

Students receiving the award were nominated by a teacher or administrator who has noticed an improvement in classroom performance, good attitude, or work ethic. All teachers and administrators have an opportunity to nominate a student, which motivates students.
