The America Library of Poetry is having their 23rd Annual National Student Poetry Contest with a $500.00 grand prize. Entries for this contest will be accepted until April 30t,h , and there is no entry fee.
There are 4 divisions, grades 3-5, 6-7, 8-9, and 10-12. Each student may submit one poem on the contest website or by mail. All entries should be typed with no more than 20 lines.
There will be many prizes such as top educator awards, prizes for entering, for the school with most entries, and editor’s choice. All total there will be 36 prizes. Students will be awarded to first, second, and third place ranging from $50.00-$500.00.
“I think it’s a good way of getting students work recognized and get them motivated to write more. My mom especially agrees with me and encouraged me to publish one of my poems”, said Yasbereli Valencia, who published one of her works on the website.
The poem can be on any subject and in any style except concrete (shape poems) or blackout. It may not contain any vulgar or offensive work and profanity. Topics can be about anything that inspires creativity, friendships, feelings etc.
