On November 12th Chino High School had no school in honor of the holiday of veterans day. Veterans day is an official U.S. holiday on the anniversary of the end of world war one on November 11th.

It mainly honors all military personnel’s who served the United States in all wars. The holiday is officially on the 11th, however if the day lands on a weekday many communities hold their celebration to a weekend close to the date.

Since this year the day landed on a Sunday, it was celebrated on Monday. The reason for this is to have more people participate in the events. “ I had no idea why we celebrated it Monday, but at least we had no school.” said Vanessa Carillo.

States, local governments, schools and non-governmental businesses are not required to close. They can decide whether they want to remain open or close.
