Heather Inglima the PE Teacher, along with the American Red Cross Club are organizing a school wide donation to fill care packages for homeless veterans during the holidays. Donations will be accepted until November 26th.

Red Cross Club is organizing this event in order to provide homeless vets with basic items such as toothpaste and socks, which may not be readily available to them.

“Being around Christmas and Thanksgiving time, it will bring a little joy into their lives,” said Inglima.

Donation boxes can be found in classrooms where teachers have volunteered to host them. The club hopes that students will be in the Thanksgiving spirit and donate the items on the list to help these homeless vets in need.

“This is a great way for students to help out and make a difference in these military families,” said Diane Murrillo, who is hosting a donation box in her classroom.

Though many students around this time are excited to have an entire week off school, it should be remembered that there are those who are less fortunate, especially those who have served this country; who need a helping hand.
