As the end of fall approaches, the end of the Fall Sports season comes for volleyball and water polo at Chino High School.

Sarah Wuertz proudly coached water polo this season gave them a highest winning streak of three games in a row. From the water polo team, James Nuci, Mark Calvario, Jacob Lovan, and Tyler Magdych achieved Academic All-League. Two skills the team needs to improve on they said were “speed and aggression.”  A difficult thing to achieve in this sport is awareness of opponents. To James Nuci, bus rides with the team will be missed, for Mark Calvario, he will never forget making a skip bar down goal against the Ontario goalie.

Coach Maddison aka “Mad Dog” coached the volleyball girls and gave them a highest winning streak of three games in a row. Daijah Williams, Hailey Hopkins, Daniella Serna, Kayla Conley, Kacey Bouwman, and Gwyn Fernandez all received Academic All-League.  Their most memorable moment was their senior night and the Big Bear Trip. Conley says, “There’s always stuff to improve on in volleyball.” She would like to improve on reading where servers will hit. A difficult thing to achieve in this sport that is needed is teamwork.

Both sports offer $1,000 scholarships for the players which will be announced at their banquet. Both teams are ready and preparing for a better season next year.
