At seven p.m. on September 23, at Don Lugo High School, the Chino cowboys burst through their decorated white banner with pride to start the 2017 Milkcan annual football game. The Don Lugo Conquistadors slammed through their tunnel and ran onto the football field to boos from the visiting side and chants from the home side.

The first few minutes of the game included an immediate touchdown by Lugo. Number six, Khoury Bethley, dominated the first few minutes of the game by putting seven points on the scoreboard. The Chino offense succeeded in matching Lugo by quickly putting up seven points of their own on the board. With eight minutes and thirty seconds left on the clock for the first quarter, Lugo’s Bethley scored a second touchdown against our cowboys, making the score 14-7.

During the third quarter Lugo made a third touchdown blowing Chino’s defense away. Daniel Munguia of Lugo made the score 21-7, leaving Chino fans in awe and frustration. From there on, the Cowboys maintained enough energy to prevent Lugo from making any further touchdowns during that quarter. The start of the fourth quarter was ushered in by the Cowboys scoring seven more points, leaving the Chino side cheering and chanting. Mike Granados, Chino’s star Quarterback rushed to the line making the score 21-14. Lugo then retaliated with another touchdown making the score 27-14. Lugo’s kicker failed to make the kick that would have boosted Lugo’s score by one point. Win or lose, our Cowboys did a great job.
