This past Friday, January 20, ASB put on a particularly magical rally for Chino High. However, they were not able to enchant everyone who attended.

This year’s winter rally was highly anticipated, especially by those who were intrigued by the Harry Potter theme. Each class was assigned a house: seniors were Gryffindor, juniors were Slytherin, sophomores were Ravenclaw, and freshmen were Hufflepuff.

Most students, including Chloe Choi, praised the decorations, saying that the posters were “very colorful and well painted.” Others, like Alexis Arce, praised ASB for the overall work that went into producing the rally. “ASB did the best they could in the given amount of time they had, and it worked out. It’s always good to see something new in a rally, and they were able to make that happen.” In regards to positive changes, Choi added, “The dance battle was very unexpected, and really fun! It changed things up a bit.”

At this rally, with the help of Renaissance, ASB was able to further recognize each grade’s highest achieving students. At one point in the event, the Top 10 of each class were invited to stand up.

“I think the Top 10 seemed really happy that they were being recognized, which was really cool,” said Arce.

An anonymous student added to Arce’s comment, saying that while the recognition was a good idea, ASB should take it a step further.

Critics of the rally argued that “while the rally was pretty successful, the MC’s should work on being more enthusiastic and creating smoother transitions in between performances.

Another student, Brianna Fajardo, agreed with critics, and also said that “the booing during class chants does not show school spirit, and should be stopped.”

The overall attitude toward this rally was positive, but there is always room for improvement. Nonetheless, students are thankful for all ASB has done to boost morale and school spirit.
